The Sustainable Community Development Initiative has a newsletter!
Sustainability is everywhere! The SCDI team decided to create a newsletter to circulate news and events happening on and around Grand Valley.
Who we are and what we do
The purpose of Grand Valley State University's Sustainable Community Development Initiative (or SCDI) is to provide the necessary skills, analytical tools, and resources to address global, national, regional, and local sustainability issues. The SCDI offers courses, programs, internships, and project activities that promote awareness about sustainable development and how sustainability best practices can be applied to gain progress against these ongoing issues. Our mission is to provide Grand Valley administration, faculty, staff, students, and community stakeholders with the required skills and capabilities to become better stewards and responsible global citizens in the workforce, communities, and family life. The vision of sustainability is accepted and valued as having an integral role in fulfilling the mission of Grand Valley. This systems integration of sustainability builds the
capacity to improve upon global sustainability issues across complex and interrelated - financial, natural, human, social, manufactured, cultural, and community - capital frameworks. View our site at www.gvsu.edu/si.

GVSU's Green Library
GVSU Libraries and the Sustainable Community Development Initiative are proud to bring you Grand Valley’s first Green Library! GVSU’s Green Library is an online resource through the GVSU Library website. This tool was made to start filling the gap between the university community and sustainability research instruments.
What you can find in the Green Library:
• Books: When you put “sustainability” into the GVSU Libraries search bar, you’ll come back with over 500 hits. Isn’t there an easier way? The Green Library helps you tailor your search to more pertinent and manageable information.
• Databases: The GVSU Libraries website highlights more popular databases like Academic Search Premier, but have you ever heard of GreenFile or AGRICOLA? The Green Library puts you in touch with recent journals and their articles for your research.
• Organizations: Need to find an organization for a research project or just want more information on how to become active? The Green Library’s Organizations page lists Grand Valley, Michigan, and National organizations relating to the values of the Triple Bottom Line.
• Also look for: videos, journals, news RSS feeds, websites and books by topic.
